A Supply and Demand Dynamic: If financial constraints begin to influence the profession, it is possible to say growth could be limited. Despite this, the physician assistant profession will remain a highly desirable career. If indeed admissions and applications remain stable or slowly grow, the profession as a whole may see salary increases particularly in surgical specialties. PA's are capable of both first-assisting in the operating room and seeing patients in the hospital and clinic setting. The only other providers capable of this are NP/RNFAs which are highly skilled, though nationally have a lower cohort. Surgeons or groups looking for a provider to both assist in the operating room and also provide clinical care, will focus on employeement of these two groups. If supply is low, theoretically we could see salaries increase and demand to stay high.
